Description:

The Gothenburg Museum of Natural History (Naturhistoriska museet)

A Family Classic!

The famous whale, Simba the lion, elephants! The dinosaur skeleton and Smiley the Alligator! These are but a few of our stuffed and mounted celebrities! Animals from all around the world form our permanent exhibition, alongside presentations of Earth’s geological construction, the history of life, ecology, marine life and many other exciting things. This is the perfect place for families with children. If you wish to rest, our café offers home made cookies and sandwiches, but if you wish you can bring your own meal to the cafeteria. Make sure you visit our shop, and browse minerals, fossils, books and toy animals. Since 1923, we can be found in the Slottsskogen Park, on the hilltop above Linnéplatsen.

Other tips for visitors to the museum:

Go for a walk in space through our model of the solar system, right outside the museum. Or stray further into Slottsskogen and pay a visit to the seals, the penguins, and all the other animals there.
