Welcome to one of the oldest museum interiors in Sweden! This is the only museum in Scandinavia dedicated to the history of museums themselves! The original idea behind museums was to display the wonders of the world, and to that we hold. Egyptian antiquities, African game, East Indian china, and many kinds of art – over 300 000 items to spark your imagination, brought together in an authentic 1885 environment. This alone would be worth the trouble of coming here. In our shop, you can browse books and souvenirs on the themes in our collections. Visit us in central Vänersborg, on the Cultural Axis, where the residency, the town square and the church are located.
